Jumping Investigation 20th June 2017

This week in Year 2 we have been helping Mr Calvert solve a problem with the tyre park. Strangely, some children are complaining that the tyres are too far apart, whilst other children are saying that they are too close together. He really doesn’t understand why this happening! How strange this is!

The children thought that this problem could be due to the fact that the children in Year 2 are different heights. They thought that taller people might be able to jump further. We decided to put this theory to the test. We used our mathematical and science knowledge to plan a fair test and then measured carefully to find out how tall we were, and compared this with how far we could jump.

Maybe you could ask your child what they discovered. Were their predictions correct?
