Birch class have had a busy week thinking about measurement. We have had a variety of activities to encourage the correct language being used. Lighter, heavier, balanced, equal, lightest, heaviest. Can your child use this language at home when doing some baking?
I think the children definitely would agree that they particularly enjoyed weighing and measuring the ingredients to make cakes.
We had a challenge activity where the children had to choose from the two pieces of play dough shown below and predict which one was the heaviest by just looking at them. This was an interesting conversation as all children where confident to say which one they thought was the heaviest but some struggled to explain why they thought this.
