Dear Parent / Carer
Next week is World Book Week in School. Here is a brief timetable of activities for your child and things to remember!
Monday – If your child has a picture book at home they would like to share with a friend please could they bring it in. Please make sure that they are able to retell the story either by using the pictures or reading.
Tuesday – Please could your child bring in a green/white sock, or a green piece of material that could be turned into a crocodile puppet? If your child has any special ideas about decorating their crocodile, please could you send them equipped on Tuesday!
Wednesday – M & M Productions – The Secret Garden – a voluntary contribution of £1 towards the cost of this event would be very welcomed. Thank you.
Thursday – Dress up as your favourite book character! Sensible shoes please – and appropriate warm coat etc for when the children go outside to play
Friday – We would like to invite you to come and read a story to some children from 9.10am – 9.30am if you are able to stay on at drop off time. You can bring your own appropriate children’s book or choose from a selection provided by us.
In Year 1 we will be combining World Book Day with the Hampshire Book Awards, as such we will be sharing a different book with the children every day next week. We have planned some interesting activities to engage the children with the stories. At the end of the week the children will be democratically voting for their favourite book (British Values!). There will also be some fun activities related to reading at home, so look out for this in your child’s book bag.
