To our surprise, after her little mishap, Betty the Scarecrow arranged for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to visit us to teach us all about fire safety. Our day started with a really interesting assembly where we met Sandra and Dave our Fire Education officers. Sandra and Dave told us all about the uniform and protective clothes that fire fighters have wear to keep them safe. They also taught us some top tips about how to stay safe at home around cookers, matches and lighters. We learnt a special rhyme to help us remember what they had taught us.....
"Matches and lighters never touch,
they can hurt you very much."
Sandra and Dave had planned some wonderful activities for us to enjoy. These activities included listening to a story about staying safe around the home, playing a snakes and ladders game which taught us some fire and road safety top tips and lastly..........a chance to explore a real fire engine, go on an exciting virtual 999 rescue and use a real fire fighter's hose!!!!
We all had a wonderful day and lots about keeping safe!
