Learning for Life
If your child is 4 or will turn 4 before 1st September 2023, they can start school in September 2023.
Applications open for Hampshire residents on 1st November 2022. The national closing date for applications is Saturday 15th January 2023. For Late applications, applications after this date, please follow the link below.
If you would like your child to attend our school, please find the link to our admission arrangements page here.
Our published admission number (PAN) is 60 pupils to the reception year. Normally children remain at this school until the end of the summer term in the educational year in which they are 7 years old, when they transfer to Junior School.
For more information about admissions, please view Hampshire's admissions guidance: https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/admissions/guidance
We hold transition visits for our new September entrants during the summer term before they begin school. Further details of transition visits are shared once a school place has been offered and accepted for your child. You can also find our school tour and 'A Day in the Life Of a Year R Child' slideshows on our main page for new and prospective parents.
Children have the opportunity to attend school full time at the start of September but the first week is spent settling children in. This is particularly important for us as we can have 60 children starting in an open plan unit together. This is very different to a nursery or pre school setting where staff/pupil ratios are also different.
A phased start allows us to settle the children and support them with routines in smaller groups. It also enables them to develop relationships with key staff and other children before they all attend together. In addition to this, starting school can be tiring for children, regardless of their nursery or pre-school provision and many children benefit from a period of part-time attendance rather than attending on a full-time basis straight away. Beyond this settling period, we offer two alternative entry patterns for any parents who feel their child may not be ready to attend full time in the second week.
To help the children become familiar with the staff in their class, in the summer term we video a story read by staff that can be shared with your child as many times as you like. Follow the link below to the Video Resource Centre if you would like to see this year's storytime videos.
