Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was lovely to welcome the children back to school this morning and to meet you all on the gate. The children were incredible and have all settled really well and seem delighted to be back. It was great to walk round this morning and see them all happily their classes. Please be reassured that we have done all we can to make the school safe for your children returning and they will not be moving outside of their class bubbles. We have also employed a day time cleaner who will be with us throughout the school day ensuring the toilets, surfaces and classrooms are regularly disinfected and maintained accordingly. If at any time you have any concerns or questions then please do get in touch and I would be happy to speak to you further.

Update for Drop-Off and Pick-Up

After trialling the drop-off of this morning we have had a little re-think and in order to make things smoother and easier for you, and allow social distancing more effectively, we will be operating a one way system as of Monday. All Year 1 and Year 2 children will enter the school grounds by the carpark gates (where I will be standing to meet you and direct you) and then you can drop them straight to their class doors. You will then exit the school ground by the gates next to Twiggs Pre-school creating a circular one-way system. Teachers will be letting their children into their classes on arrival. The window for drop-off is between 8.45-9.05am which I hope we help parents who have other children attending Marchwood Junior School. This will be reviewed in a couple of weeks and we will keep in touch with you.

When Year R join us the children from Oak class will enter their class from the back of the Year R area and Willow and Holly will enter via the small gate at the front (just by where I will be standing) to enter the Year R waiting area from their front door.

Please do not worry as I will be there to guide you and we will put signs up to make it easy to follow.

Collection will be from the same door that you drop-off at and again it will be a one-way system entering by the school carpark and exciting by the gate next to Twiggs Pre-school.

Please remember to socially distance as much as is possible during drop-off and pick-up times. I appreciate how difficult this must be but we really want to keep you and your children safe.

Symptoms of COVID

Before bringing children to school, parents must ensure their child and or anyone in their household are not presenting with any COVID-19 symptoms. These include persistent cough, high temperature and or loss of taste and smell. It your child develops these symptoms they will need to be tested. In accordance to the guidance, if the test delivers a positive result, you should inform the school immediately and must isolate for 7 days and the household for 14 days. If the test delivers a negative result and symptoms cease, they can return to school. Please provide the school with evidence of the test results when they have been received.

All absences from school need to be reported in the morning to the school office.

Thank you for your co-operation.

I hope that you have a restful weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Warm regards,

Iley Clements

Interim Headteacher
