During curriculum week we shared the book "The Dot" by Peter H Reynolds. It's a story about a little girl called Vashti who thinks that she can't draw. But she soon discovers that it isn't as hard as she thinks, and after a little bit of inspiration, courage, resilience and positive attitude she becomes a wonderful artist, then even encourages another child to do the same.
The children enjoyed a variety of 'dot' themed activities during curriculum week. They learnt about different types of artists who use dots in their art work, we enjoyed dotty maths, we wrote a poem about what a dot could be, explored our own resilience in PSHE and thought about things we were good at, and what we could do when we found things tricky.
