Willow Class is one of the reception classes at Marchwood C of E Infant School.
In Willow Class we aim to create an exciting and effective learning environment for all our children and believe in a child-led approach, combined with some adult-led teaching.
In our experience, children who have started their learning journey in this way are more independent, resilient, motivated and effective learners.
Take a look at what we have been up to in Willow Class this year.
Willow Class have been learning to add two groups of objects to findt the total number of objects altogether. We have been doing this practically, pictorially and also writing the mathematical sum to go with our picture. We have learnt the add/plus and equals/altogether makes symbols and are becoming more confident and independent in writing our maths sums. Well done Willow Class!
Willow Class were very interested to learn about Christingle and loved making their own which they then carried into the hall for the Christingle Service in the afternoon. Thank you to Mrs. Crouchman who kindly came in to help us.
We learnt about what each part of the Christingle represents:
The orange- the world
The red tape- the blood of Jesus
The candle- the light of Jesus
The foil- reflecting the light of Jesus
The four cocktail sticks-the four seasons
The sweets and the fruit- symbols of God's creation
Children in Need Day
Willow Class enjoyed dressing up for Children in Need day and playing 'Pudsey Says.'
We also learnt about who benefits from the money we raise.
