Implementation
The EYFS and National Curriculum forms the basis of teaching and learning and dictates the curriculum content for Music.
- The ‘Music’ skills progression map’ supports planning and ensures there is progression in the development of key skills.
- New techniques and skills are modelled and musical examples are shared with the children.
- Children will experience music that is both recorded and performed live.
- In group and individual work, pupils have the opportunity to develop, practise, refine and experiment, perform, record and present their ideas and techniques.
- Task design and access points support all pupils to make progress from their relative starting points.
- Opportunities for using and extending music skills are built into lessons in other subjects.
- All children have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.
- Vocabulary is explicitly taught.
Inclusion
At our school, we believe music should be accessible and enjoyable for every child. Our inclusive music curriculum is designed to remove barriers and create opportunities for all learners.
We understand that some children may face challenges—such as difficulty in listening and appreciating music, or having physical or learning differences. That’s why we focus on making music meaningful and engaging for everyone.
Our aim is for every child to connect with music in a personal way. To achieve this, we use a wide range of diverse materials and approaches that inspire creativity and help each child discover and develop their unique talents.
